The racetrack has long been a source of quality prospects for disciplines such as barrel racing, roping, jumping and dressage. However, without a “racetrack connection”, it is difficult for many buyers to tap into this market. The horses listed for sale on ShedrowSales.com are retired from racing for one reason or another, yet believed to be suitable for a second career in the show ring or rodeo arena. Many racehorse owners choose to sell horses that aren’t profitable. The horse may be fast, but just not futurity or derby quality. Or, maybe it can’t run at all. Whatever the reason, many owners decide that selling the horse is the most prudent thing to do.
Oftentimes these horses retire sound, and once off hot feed, have quiet and kind dispositions—making them an outstanding prospect for another athletic endeavor.
