Cisco Rebel showed a lot of promise on the
racetrack; however, the gelding was retired after
only six starts. The grey was crooked in one front
leg, and after some tough racing luck, the owner
decided to call it quits instead of risking breaking
him down.
The stout-made gelding by Special Co Motion,
and out of Ms Blue Rebellion left his racing career
to become a bulldogging mount. The less than
perfect leg has not hindered his steer chasing
capabilities one bit, having racked up many
NLBRA bulldogging wins and finals qualifications
for his steer-throwing jockey.
Sleepy Joe Jasper was a giant of a two year old.
As a result, he didn't make his racing debut until
he was three. With three starts on his resume and
only a mediocre third place finish to show, the
gelding's owner decided he would be better served
pursuing a career over fences. At 17 hands tall, it
didn't take long to find a new home for the
handsome and extremely good natured son of
Woody Win, who was out of the Basic Rate mare,
Basic Tomboy.
It wasn't a lack of talent; Jet Ces Rocket just didn't
have his heart into racing. His trainer knew the
docile gelding would be better served as
someone's pet. The two year old left the track with
his racing ROM, and was headed to the show pen
as a prospective all-around mount for a ten year
old girl.
Sired by Smooth Rocket, and out of Jets Ce
Dandy, the gelding was a model student, quickly
taking his young owner to the winner's circle in a
variety of events in 4-H, AQHA and open horse
shows. The former Big E Champion now spends
his days teaching young children how to ride, and
the joys and responsibility of horse ownership.

>>What A Mate - 1993 AQHA Gelding
SI NA Starts: (0) Wins: (0) 2nds: (0) 3rds: (0) Earnings: $0
The black gelding by Lucks Chicdelight and out of
the Azure Te mare, Racemate, was a big,
immature two year old. And even though he was
at the track and in race training, What A Mate
didn't have a lick of interest in going fast. As a
result, he was sold before he ever started.
One would have thought the gentle and giant
black beauty was destined for the show pen. Think
again. What A Mate headed to the rodeo arena
and has since made his mark chasing cattle. The
gelding works both sides of the box--heading and
calf roping--and has carried his owner to the
NLBRA finals in both events four times, as well as
multiple event and all around saddle wins.

Sleepy Joe Jasper and his new 13 year old owner got off to a successful start in the
show ring in no time at all. Off the track less than one year, "Impressin The
Ladies"--the gelding's show name--ended the 2005 show season 3rd in the Colorado
Hunter Jumper Association Puddle Jumpers Division. Now being pointed towards the
Hunters, we expect Sleepy Joe Jasper to have a long and fruitful show career.
